1. My child has had a fall and broke / knocked out a tooth. What should I do?

TOOTH IS BROKEN
Find the broken piece and immediately place in milk.
See a dentist as soon as possible

TOOTH IS KNOCKED OUT
Find the tooth. Check whether the tooth is a baby or adult tooth.

  • If baby tooth, keep it out of the mouth and see a dentist as soon as possible.
  • If adult tooth, hold it by the crown, use saliva of child or milk, to gently rinse off any dirt from the tooth. Place back in the socket.
  • If can’t, then keep the tooth under child’s tongue or inside their cheek, or place in child’s saliva or milk. See a dentist as soon as possible.

2. How often should I have dental check up?

You should have your teeth checked and cleaned every 6 months. Regular checks ensure that any dental problems, especially those which you may not be aware of, are detected early, thus keeping your teeth in their best condition.

Regular cleaning of your teeth ensures your gums are healthy. Keep in mind most gum diseases are not painful until late stage.

3. When should my child start visiting the dentist?

We recommend that you bring your child to see us for a brief dental check at age of 3+. At this first visit, we will ensure your child has a pleasant experience, thereby setting a positive foundation for future dental visits.

We will also discuss oral hygiene and diet related issues.

4. How can I get whiter teeth?

Most stains on teeth can be removed by a professional scale and clean treatment. To achieve a whiter smile, we recommend a safe, gentle, yet effective take-home teeth- whitening kit.

Please call the surgery for further information.

5. What can I do to get rid of my bad breath?

Most bad breath is caused by a dental condition. These include: gum disease, cavities, poor oral hygiene, bacterial layer on the tongue. Regular dental check ups and cleaning will significantly reduce or eliminate bad breath.
